Verbal Communication
In North Korea the main language is referred to as “Cultured Language”. Which is better known as MUNHWA. The standard Language is based on the Seoul dialect; there are also a lot of English and Japanese loan words found in the language. Written Korean has its own alphabet, which is called ‘hangul’. They use ‘PC’ for personal computer and ‘handufone’ for mobile.
MOBILE: For safety reasons all foreign visitors must temporarily surrender mobile phones at customs on arrival in North Korea and it is kept until they have checked it over.
LAPTOP: When planing on travelling to North Korea it is important to know that because business centres are limited, you need to make sure you have the right equiptment. For example, if the business is wanting to communicate face to face via a laptop, make sure that your business is prepared with a web cam, or even a video camera to allow for the best coverage. For a traveller it is to be noted that some gestures mean different things in different countries, like a wave of the hand means 'come here' and crossed hands means 'no' in North Korea.
